PESETA IV
The JRC PESETA IV study shows that ecosystems, people and economies in the EU will face major impacts from climate change if we do not urgently mitigate greenhouse gas emissions or adapt to climate change. The burden of climate change shows a clear north-south divide, with southern regions in Europe much more impacted, through the effects of extreme heat, water scarcity, drought, forest fires and agriculture losses. Limiting global warming to well below 2°C would considerably reduce climate change impacts in Europe. Adaptation to climate change would further minimize unavoidable impacts in a cost-effective manner, with considerable co-benefits from nature-based solutions.
The project was completed in 2020.
PESETA III
The study assesses how climate change could affect Europe in eleven impact areas: coastal floods, river floods, droughts, agriculture, energy, transport, water resources, habitat loss, forest fires, labour productivity, and mortality due to heat.
The project was completed in 2018.
PESETA II
The objective of the JRC PESETA II project is to gain insights into the sectoral and regional patterns of climate change impacts in Europe by the end of this century.
The project was completed in 2014.
PESETA I
The PESETA I research project integrates a set of high-resolution climate change projections and physical models into an economic modelling framework to quantify the impacts of climate change on vulnerable aspects of Europe.
The project was completed in 2009.

JRC PESETA PROGRAM has lead to the publication of several technical and policy reports and peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals and by leading publishers in the sector.
PESETA Related project
APES: Assessing infectious disease outbreaks with Pandemic and Epidemic riSk.
As a complement to the JRC PESETA research activities on climate risks, JRC has launched an exploratory research project aiming at better understanding of drivers of pandemic risk.
