NUSIMEP-1 Uranium and plutonium isotopic abundances in aqueous solutions

This internal campaign was organised on request of the IAEA and, on the basis of verification measurements carried out at other laboratories, was proof that certified environmental material can be prepared and certified with low uncertainties at IRMM.

Six uranium and four plutonium isotopic mixtures were prepared and their isotopic ratios and abundances were certified. Aqueous solutions mirroring various typical ground waters and having very low concentrations of natural uranium were also prepared. These were subsequently used as matrices for the samples.
