Determination of total As, Cd, Pb and Hg in vegetable feed

The IMEP-119 proficiency testing (PT) exercise focuses on the analysis of total arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury in vegetable feed. This PT is organised in support to Directive 2002/32/EC on undesirable substances in animal feed.
The main objective of this exercise is to assess the analytical capabilities of nominated National Reference Laboratories (NRLs), food control laboratories and other interested laboratories on the above described measurands.
Participation in IMEP-119 is mandatory for all NRLs having experience in this kind of analysis.

  • Registration for NRLs is free of charge.
  • Registration for other laboratories is 220 euros

Test materials and analytes

The test material to be analysed is vegetable feed. Each participant will receive one jar of the test item. The measurands are total As, Cd, Pb and Hg in vegetable feed.

General outline of the exercise

Participants are requested to perform one to three independent analyses using the method of their choice, and to report their measurement results together with the associated measurement uncertainty and coverage factor k.
Detailed instructions will be sent together with the test sample.
