Biography
Tryfonas Christou joined the JRC in May 2022. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business (2019), a Masters of Science (MSc) in Economics from the University College of London (2013), and a Bachelor of Science (Ptychion) in Economics with a specialization in Economic Theory and Policy from the Athens University of Economics and Business (2012).
Prior to joining the JRC, Tryfonas was a postdoctoral researcher and an adjunct lecturer at the Athens University of Economics and Business. His research interests lie in the fields of macroeconomics and fiscal policy. More specifically, his recent research has used dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) models to examine the interaction of fiscal policy and institutions with macroeconomic performance through a comparative study of eurozone countries and to investigate the macroeconomic effects of skill mismatch in the labor market.
His current work in the TEDAM team focuses on contributing to the development of the spatial dynamic computable general equilibrium (CGE) RHOMOLO model, to update the model’s database, and to carry out simulations of EU policies and structural reforms.
