The iRESIST+ research project looks into a novel combined seismic and energy retrofitting scheme that combines inorganic textile-based composites with thermal insulation systems. Integrating seismic and energy upgrading reduces labour consumption and intervention time, reducing intervention costs with about 30% compared to the costs of applying seismic and energy upgrading separately.
The proposed retrofitting scheme was evaluated by means of numerical modelling. Its potential long-term impact was explored for the building stock of 20 European cities. Validation on a full-scale building in the JRC’s ELSA laboratory is currently in progress.
