The task in IMEP-21 was to analyse the total amount contents of Hg, Pb, Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Zn, PCBs and PAHs in sewage sludge.
The analytes under investigation were:
Element | Content range | Element | Content range |
---|---|---|---|
Hg | 0.5 - 10 mg/kg | Cu, Pb | 500 - 1000 mg/kg |
Cd | 5 - 50 mg/kg | Zn | 1000 - 5000 mg/kg |
Cr | 100 - 500 mg/kg | Ni | 50 - 500 mg/kg |
Analytes | Range |
---|---|
PCBs 28, 52, 101, 118, 153, 180 | 100 - 500 ng/g each |
Analyte | Nominal content |
---|---|
sum PAH (11) | 6000 ng/g |
Participating laboratories were to use routine analytical procedures.
About running IMEP-21
The certified test sample contained 40 g of the sewage sludge material in glass bottles.
Participation in IMEP-21 was free of charge (dispatch costs included). The maximum number of registrations was limited to 4 laboratories per country. Samples were first allocated to participants contacted via the IMEP regional coordinators and participants who expressed their interest for participation in IMEP-21 to IRMM early. Subsequently samples were allocated to other participants until the stock of sewage sludge samples is exhausted.
IMEP is open to all laboratories and full confidentiality is guaranteed with respect to the link between measurement results and the participants' identity.
