The Europa Science Experience (ESE) is a focal point for welcoming visitors to the Joint Research Centre (JRC) and promoting our values and scientific work to support EU policy making.
Located at the JRC Ispra site, ESE is a nearly zero energy building that showcases the European Commission's commitment to sustainability and innovation. The facility embodies the principles of the New European Bauhaus initiative.
The ESE features two main spaces. The Cube is a glass-enclosed area that highlights the JRC's rich history and role within the European Commission. In the exhibition area, visitors can explore the impact of JRC research on their daily lives by virtually meeting with scientists or immersing themselves in exciting virtual reality experiences.
The facility is also an important tool for the JRC Youth Programme and educational groups from secondary schools and universities are welcome.

The ESE was officially inaugurated by former Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel, on 27 April 2023. It has since hosted a variety of events and activities, including EU institutional events, high-level visits, and educational initiatives aimed at young people.
By collaborating with partners and multipliers, ESE is committed to promoting the JRC's message about the significance and accessibility of science.
