Join us for our free half-day workshop organised by the team behind Synocene, a JRC SciArt project that explores AI’s perception of the environment by combining science and art, with the objective of overcoming the anthropocentric biases of AI towards nature.
These workshops, under the umbrella of the NaturArchy exhibition, will take place on 25 May in the Forêt de Soignes in small groups of 7 to 10 people.
You can take part either in the morning, from 10.00 to 13.00 (CEST) or the afternoon from 15.00 to 18.00 (CEST). Both workshops have the same structure
- a one-hour walk, where you will be invited to listen differently, see differently, and engage with local woodland in new ways
- from here, you will be invited to the Community Hall for a guided creative activity using online AI platforms to imagine new ways in which humans, the natural world, and technology come together
This activity is free of charge and open to all ages, but prior registration is mandatory. It will be conducted in French and English.
Departure point: Centre Culturel Wabo, Delleurlaan 39, 1170 Brussels.

Description
This event is organised by the SciArt Resonances initiative of European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) in collaboration with the Natura 2000 Network and Directorate-General for Environment (DG ENV).
Through this event, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a new public sound art installation at the NaturArchy exhibition, that will be featured at iMAL. While the forest walk is free, there is an entrance fee for iMAL’s exhibition.
By participating in this workshop, your ideas for a future where humans, the natural world, and AI come together will be part of a one-of-a-kind exhibition that contemplates a future Europe looking to achieve the Green Deal.
This activity is conducted as part of the Synocene project and installation, developed in collaboration with Isabelle Hupont Torres (JRC) Lucía Iglesias Blanco (DG ENV) and Marina Xenophontos (DG ENV) and shown as part of the NaturArchy exhibition by JRC SciArt in parternship with iMAL.
