Join our interactive double-slot workshop at CPDP ('Computers, Privacy and Data Protection') for in-depth discussions on research and real-world challenges and opportunities in the area of AI and data governance.
This workshop is co-organised by the JRC in the framework of the FreshMinds initiative, and the ADAPT Centre. It brings together early-stage researchers (ESRs) and experts from academia, industry, civil society and EU institutions to actively engage in discussions that bridge theory and implementation.
The workshop is an in-person event and forms part of the 18th CPDP international conference, taking place in Brussels, 21-23 May 2025. Attendance requires registration for the CPDP conference:

Description
In this interactive workshop, early-stage researchers take the stage to present their cutting-edge work on the challenges and opportunities of AI and data governance — ranging from regulatory divergence and risk-based oversight to algorithmic transparency and ethical concerns.
Bringing together voices from research, policy, and practice the workshop invites participants to actively engage in discussions that bridge theory and implementation. It offers a unique space for dialogue on the future of responsible and evidence-based digital governance in the EU and beyond, by gathering experts from academia, industry, civil society and EU institutions.
The workshop will run for 2 hours and 30 minutes. This interactive double-slot workshop includes two parts:
- Each ESR will present their novel research (5 min each). Then, they will be joined by experts in breakout sessions to discuss their research (45 min).
- Experts will discuss the opportunities and challenges for ESRs in the international digital regulatory space and share their experiences.
The workshop is co-organised by the ADAPT Centre and European Commission, Joint Research Centre’s FreshMinds initiative.
