Daniele GALLIANO

Biography

Daniele is the technical lead at the European Crisis Management Laboratory (ECML), where he focuses on researching the application of technologies, primarily ICT, to enhance disaster risk management processes. He is responsible for overseeing ECML's activities, which include studying physical environments affected by disasters and testing new technologies in a fully functional crisis room.

Leveraging his security background, Daniele evaluates the reliability and effectiveness of these innovations. Additionally, he develops systems and software to demonstrate the benefits of new solutions.

Professional achievements 

Drawing on his expertise in safe and secure systems installation and administration, Daniele spent a decade collaborating with private companies. During this time, he specialised in designing, developing, and maintaining secure ICT solutions across various sectors, such as banking and credit cards, building tendering, and international publishing.

Notably, in 2012 and 2013, Daniele designed and implemented a modern crisis room for the Haitian National Department of Civil Protection. He has been part of the European Commission since 2007.

Academic background

With a degree in electronic engineering entitled “a multiprogramming library in a distributed UNIX systems and its monitoring graphic interface”, Daniele is a professional engineer since 1994.
