Biography
Blanka Halamoda-Kenzaoui is a Scientific/Technical Project Officer working in the area of safety of the nanomaterials at the Consumer Products Safety Unit of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre. She has an expertise in the in vitro methods for the toxicological evaluation of nanoparticles including cell culture techniques, cytotoxicity and genotoxicity assessment, oxidative stress evaluation, fluorescent and confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, Western Blot, RT-PCR and cell transfection.
She has received a Master degree in pharmaceutical sciences at Wroclaw Medical University (Poland) in 2000 and a PhD in Life Sciences at University of Lausanne (Switzerland) in 2012, for her work in the area of nanotoxicology. In 2013 she joined JRC for a post-doctoral project focusing on the influence of the physicochemical properties of nanoparticles on their biological effect. Currently she is working on regulatory issues related to the safety of nanotechnology-based pharmaceutical products.
