Biography

Balázs Párkányi is team leader in the Fiscal Policy Analysis team of JRC-Seville. He received his master’s degree in economics from Corvinus University (Budapest) and his MPhil in economics from Central European University (Budapest). His research interest is in modelling pension systems.

Balázs has extensive experience in policy support and external representation; before joining the JRC he worked as Economic Counsellor at the EU Delegation in Washington DC and as Advisor in the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund. He had also taken up various economist and leadership roles in the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs of the European Commission working, for instance, on the Recovery and Resilience Facility and on the EU’s macro-financial program for Hungary. Before the European Commission, he worked as macroeconomic modeller at the Central Bank of Hungary.
