Biography

Alicia joined the JRC in 2022 and is currently part of the Human Capital & Employment team within JRC.B.6 Industrial Strategy, Skills and Technology Transfer. Her research interests include identifying skill mismatches and bottlenecks in the labor market, the impact of algorithmic management on employment conditions, and analyzing the evolving nature of work, particularly in relation to the green transition, digitalization, and challenges posed by emerging technologies.

Previously, within the JRC, Alicia worked in JRC.B.7 Innovation Policies and Economic Impact, where she contributed to the evaluation of the European Social Fund and other EU policies focused on employment and social inclusion. Before joining the JRC, she spent three years in the Microeconomic Studies division of Banco de España, participating in the Household Financial Survey (EFF) unit, where she conducted research on wealth and gender inequality. She also worked as a research assistant at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, supporting projects on labor market dynamics and gender economics. Additionally, Alicia served as a consultant for the OECD, working on projects that explored how patents in green technologies help companies attract resources, as well as on environmental modeling topics.

She is currently a PhD candidate in Economics at the Autonomous University of Madrid and holds a Master’s in Economics of Public Policy from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics.
