Description

Plutonium and uranium amount content, and isotope amount ratios in synthetic input solution

REIMEP-17 is an interlaboratory comparison open to all laboratories.

Participating laboratories in REIMEP-17 receive two test samples of synthetic input solution with undisclosed U, Pu amount content and isotope amount ratio values n(234U)/n(238U), n(235U)/n(238U), n(236U)/n(238U) and n(238Pu)/n(239Pu), n(240Pu)/n(239Pu), n(241Pu)/n(239Pu), n(242Pu)/n(239Pu).

Full confidentiality is guaranteed with respect to the link between measurement results and the participants’ identity.

The participation fee for REIMEP-17 was €2500, which included sample dispatch.

Due to the nature of this comparison only a limited number of samples were available. Samples had been allocated to participants in order of registration until the stock of REIMEP-17 samples was exhausted.

The REIMEP-17 samples were shipped from the Institute for Transuranium Elements (EC-JRC-Karlsruhe) to the participants. Each participant had to request the Import licence in time to enable shipment. The handling or operation licence was organized by the ITU Transport officers. With registering in REIMEP-17 the participant agreed to the Transfer of Title and Risks: “Title and risks associated with the samples provided by ITU shall pass to the participants upon delivery of the samples to their premises”. Participants were also responsible for the sample disposal and costs involved.

Registration for this inter-laboratory comparison was via the following link: https://web.jrc.ec.europa.eu/ilcRegistrationWeb/registration/registration.do?selComparison=861

The measurement results had to be reported via the IRMM's online reporting tool at the latest on 1st of June 2013.

The REIMEP-17 reference values were sent to the participants on 1st of July 2013.

The participant results were evaluated against the reference values by means of z-scores and zeta-scores in compliance with ISO 13528:2005.

The REIMEP-17 report is available for download from the IRMM web-site.

In addition each participant received an individual certificate with the reported results, the REIMEP-17 reference values and the respective evaluation scores.
