Re-open EU, the app to follow coronavirus health and travel developments in your country and beyond, is now available for free download on Google Play and the App Store.

With added data on the health situation across EU countries, this app gives people access to the latest information on measures and restrictions on their mobile device, wherever they happen to be.

First developed by the Commission’s Joint Research Centre in June, the Re-open EU platform has already helped more than seven million people confidently plan their summer travel and reconnect with family and friends.

It provides real-time information on public health and safety measures (such as physical distancing or wearing of facemasks), mobile coronavirus contact tracing and warning apps, borders, available means of transport, travel restrictions and other practical details.

As the pandemic situation develops, new measures are being taken across the EU to limit the spread of the coronavirus and mitigate its impact. Re-open EU can help citizens take informed decisions, by providing comprehensive information on the health situation, as well as corona safety and travel measures in European countries.

The Re-open EU app now includes a weekly updated map that colour codes EU regions - green, orange, yellow or grey - based on the epidemiological situation there. This is based on official data provided by EU countries to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

Together with the constantly updated information on the platform, the app will help people gauge what the situation is in each European country and what measures to expect, such as passenger locator forms, quarantines or test requirements.
