Description
On this special day, we will open our premises to the public, which will have plenty of opportunities to be informed about our work and purpose, to engage with our scientists and dive into JRC’s broad research programme, through live demonstrations directly from our nuclear laboratories, as well as fun and interactive activities.
Registration
When visiting the JRC Karlsruhe site, please follow the important instructions and information provided in the agenda.
ATTENTION: Due to logistic reasons, your stay on site will be allowed for a maximum of 3 and a half hours. Therefore, when filling out the registration, you must select the morning OR the afternoon slot and, in case, visits to Wing M and Eusectra. Access is not possible for children under 12 years of age.
Registration will be open until 08 October 2023
Activities
Come and discover the scientific activities of JRC Karlsruhe site and Directorate G for Nuclear Safety and Security at our Open Day, on 14 October 2023, which marks the beginning of a series of events organised to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of JRC Nuclear Safety and Security.

- Presentations on nuclear medical applications, nuclear forensics, Wing M, features of JRC work, batteries for space
- Nuclear forensics corner
- Speed-Dating with JRC scientists
- Live Demos from our nuclear laboratories
- “Art Spaces” exhibition
- Decarbonisation exhibition
- Visit to Wing M and EUSECTRA facilities
Interactive activities:
- Gloveboxes
- Manipulators with objects to train
- Radiation measurement (e.g. measurement of natural background, dose rate, Geiger- Müller, etc.)
