EUROMOD

EUROMOD is a tax-benefit microsimulation model for the European Union that enables researchers and policy analysts to calculate, in a comparable manner, the effects of taxes and benefits on household incomes and work incentives for the population of each country and for the EU as a whole.

The JRC Fiscal Policy Analysis team uses this model since March 2013 for the impact assessment of tax and social benefit reforms in partnership with the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (DG EMPL), the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN) and the Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union (DG TAXUD).

Originally maintained, developed and managed by the Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER), since 2021 EUROMOD is maintained, developed and managed by the Fiscal Policy Analysis team at the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission. The model is continuously updated by the JRC in collaboration with Eurostat and national teams from each EU member state, making use of micro-data from the European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC).

The Joint Research Centre also provides researchers and policy analyst with a simplified access to EUROMOD through an online web interface, which allows analysis of the fiscal and equity impacts of tax reforms.
