The project integrates the simulation of wealth taxes into EUROMOD to significantly broaden the scope of policy evaluation and analysis.

For this purpose the Household Finance and Consumption Survey (HFCS) of the European Central Bank is adapted for its use in EUROMOD.

The simulation of taxes on inheritances or gifts, net wealth, real estate property and transfer, as well as financial assets allows for assessing the budgetary, distributional, and equity impacts of tax shift reforms from labour to wealth, which are currently at the forefront of the political and scientific debate.

The project currently covers six countries (Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy and Spain) and is possibly extended to all Member States in the future. The long-term objective of the project is the modelling of wealth accumulation and taxation in a dynamic perspective.
