The TEDAM team provides analytical support to EU policy making. The key instrument used for this purpose is the spatial computable general equilibrium model RHOMOLO, but additional economic methods are also used. The policy-support activity of the team is summed up here.

  • Pablo Casas (since 2024): RHOMOLO modeller. Main fields of interest: Fiscal Policy, Regional Economics, Technological Change, and Ecological Economics. He holds a MsC and a PhD in Economics from the International University of Andalucía. Prior to joining the JRC, he served as a Research Assistant and Substitute Professor at the University of Huelva, and as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow and Visiting Lecturer at the Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon.
  • Tryfonas Christou (since 2022): RHOMOLO modeller. Main fields of interest: Fiscal Policy, Economic Growth, and the role of institutions. Tryfonas holds a BSc in Economic Theory and Policy from the Athens University of Economics and Business, a MSc in Economics from the University College of London, and a PhD in Economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business. Prior to joining the JRC, he was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow and Adjunt Lecturer at the Athens University.
  • Andrea Conte (since 2016): TEDAM project coordinator. Main fields of interest: Innovation, Public Finance, and Regional Policy. Andrea holds a PhD and MSc in Economics from CORIPE and the Economics Department of the University of Turin. He was a visiting Research Fellow at the CNR (Italian National Research Council), ISTAT (Italian National Statistical Office), ILO (International Labour Organization) and Birkbeck College (London). He was Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute of Economics in Jena from 2005 to 2007. Andrea joined the European Commission in 2008 in the Directorate General for Economic & Financial Affairs (ECFIN), before moving to JRC Seville.
  • Alicia de Quinto Notario (since 2022): REMO economist. Main fields of interest: Applied Microeconomics and Policy Evaluation, with a focus on inequality and gender. Alicia worked as a Research Fellow at Pompeu Fabra University and Banco de España, as Project Director in 40dB, and as a consultant for the OECD. She holds a Master's dgree in Economics of Public Policy from Barcelona Graduate School of Economics and currently pursues a PhD in Economics at the Autonomous University of Madrid.
  • Abián García Rodríguez (since 2022): RHOMOLO modeller. Main fields of interest: Fiscal Policy, Regional Economics, Demographics and Applied Macroeconomics. He holds a PhD in Economics from the Universitat de Barcelona. Prior to joining the JRC, he was a Research Officer at the Economic and Social Research Institute (Dublin) and an Economist for the Department of Finance of the Canary Islands' Government and the Confederación Canaria de Empresarios CEOE (Las Palmas).
  • Ilias Kostarakos (since 2021): REMO economist. Main fields of interest: Applied Macroeconomics, Fiscal Policy, Labour Share, Growth Empirics, Intangible Capital, and Financial Development. He holds a MPhil and a PhD in Economics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Prior to joining the JRC, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Economic Analysis division of the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) in Ireland and as a Policy Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister of Greece. 
  • Marie Lalanne (since 2022): REMO economist. Main fields of interest: Applied Econometrics, Labour and Personnel Economics, with a focus on networks and gender, and Economics of Innovation. Marie holds a PhD in Mathematical Economics and Econometrics from the Toulouse School of Economics. Before joining the JRC, she worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Goethe University of Frankfurt/SAFE Research Centre and at the University of Turin/Collegio Carlo Alberto.
  • Nicholas Joseph Lazarou (since 2021): RHOMOLO modeller. Main fields of interest: International Trade, Development, and Industrial Organisation. Nicholas holds a PhD from the University of Southampton and he has previously worked for the World Bank / UNCTAD on developing and launching the Global Transport Costs Dataset for International Trade. His past experience includes being a Research Associate at University College London's Energy Institute, and, before joining the JRC, he was the Greek delegate at the Economic Policy Committee of the European Council when he was based at the Council of Economic Advisors at the Ministry of Finance of Greece. 
  • Anabela Marques Santos (since 2021): REMO project coordinator and economist. Main fields of interest: Policy Evaluation and Impact Assessment, Rural Development, Economics of Innovation, Tourism, and Corporate Finance. She has a PhD in Economics and Management from the Université Libre de Bruxelles and a MsC in Economics from the Unversidade de Évora. Before joining the JRC, she was Research Fellow at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. Between 2005 and 2014, she was Financial Advisor for SMEs in Portugal (especially for agri-food companies and the tourism sector).
  • Francesco Molica (since 2023): REMO economic and policy analyst. Main fields of interest: Regional Policy, Regional Development, Innovation Policy, EU Studies. Francesco has over 10 years experience advising public institutions on regional policy and territorial development. Prior to joining the JRC in 2023, he worked as Director for EU budget and Regional Policy at the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions, the largest organisation and think tank representing EU regional authorities. He also worked for the European Commission's DG REGIO and the regional government of Calabria. 
  • Simone Salotti (since 2018): RHOMOLO project coordinator and modeller. Main fields of interest: Applied Macroeconomics, Fiscal Policy, and Regional Economics. Simone has a PhD and a MSc in Economics from the University of Siena, Italy. Prior to coming to the JRC, he worked at the University of Firenze (Italy), the National University of Ireland Galway (Ireland), and Oxford Brookes University (UK). 
  • Pietro Santoleri (since 2022): REMO economist. Main fields of interest: Innovation, Firm Dynamics, Entrepreneurship, and Policy Evaluation. Pietro holds a BSc in Political Science from the University of Bologna, a MSc in International Economics and Development from the Complutense University of Madrid. He earned a PhD in Economics jointly from Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies and Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne in 2019. Before joining the JRC, he has worked for the United Nations (Chile), and acted as a consultant for the OECD and the Bank of Italy. 
  • Yevgenyia Shevtsova (since 2019): REMO economist. Main fields of interest: International Economics, Applied Econometrics, and Economics of Innovation. Yevgenyia holds a PhD in Economics from Heriot-Watt University and a MSc in Economics from Kyiv School of Economics. Prior to joining the JRC in 2019, she worked at the University of Liverpool, Joint Vienna Institute, and the University of York. 

The TEDAM team is part of the Innovation Policies and Economic Impact Unit (JRC.B.7) of the Fair and Sustainable Economy Directorate in the Joint Research Centre, located in Seville, Spain.
