Evidence is provided to policymakers from various types of institutions across the EU. This has – once again – become visible during the Covid-19 pandemic where advisory councils, chief science advisors and medical officers, government research institutes, national academies and research associations all fed into the policymaking process and public debates.

"Single element" workshops will bring together policymakers and practitioners working on or at a particular science for policy mechanism from across Europe.

Workshop mode
The virtual "single element" workshops, scheduled for a duration of 2.5 hours, will be guided by the following questions:
- In which Member State does the science for policy mechanism exist? How does it work?
- What does it deliver (and not) in different countries? Why (not)? How is it connected to other science for policy mechanisms?
- What needs to/could be done to enhance its efficacy? Any ideas/projects?
These workshops will be discussed in a mix of break-out groups and plenary discussions, aiming to exchange views from across Europe on best practice, enabling and impeding factors in relation to a single science for policy mechanism.
