Enhancing Europe’s competitiveness and cohesion is a top priority for the EU. The JRC, through the work of the Territorial Data Analysis and Modelling (TEDAM) team, plays a key role in this mission by evaluating the impact and effectiveness of EU funding programs across countries and regions.
By using different quantitative economic methods for impact assessments, monitoring and evaluation of EU funds, this research promotes transparency and accountability, which contributes to public trust in European policies. It also helps policymakers with data and evidence to make decisions that could contribute to help businesses grow, support social and territorial inclusion and promote a more sustainable development.
TEDAM focuses on the European territorial dimension (up to the NUTS 2 regional level).
The work is organised along two pillars:

Modelling for policy impact assessment with the dynamic spatial computable general equilibrium (CGE) model RHOMOLO.

Focuses on the mapping, monitoring and analysis of key regional statistical data and indicators, as well as micro-level data.

Events
The TEDAM team regularly organizes, supports, and participates in major scientific and policy events (workshops, conferences) across Europe, collaborating closely with external partners and stakeholders. These events are designed to facilitate interdisciplinary dialogue, encourage innovative ideas, and contribute to the growth and progress of regional science and policy development.
Some of the main partners are:
- the European Regional Science Association (ERSA), a supranational grouping of national regional science associations across Europe, and its Italian and Spanish branches
- the Regional Studies Association (RSA), a global community for regional and urban research, development and policy
The collaborative efforts not only strengthen the international research community but also enhance the quality of research and policy recommendations in the fields of spatial economics, territorial development and other related issues.
