Overview
The JRC has produced a series of competence frameworks and tools to support policymakers, educators, and those designing curricula and assessment in their efforts. JRC work builds on the Council Recommendation on Key Competences for Lifelong Learning.
DigComp
The European Digital Competence Framework (DigComp) describes what is needed to be digitally competent in today's society, and supports the development of digital competence among individuals of all ages. It covers a wide range of skills levels, from basic to advanced, and offers a stable reference in a rapidly-evolving digital technological landscape.
DigCompOrg
The European Framework for Digitally-Competent Educational Organisations (DigCompOrg) framework is designed to assess the digital development and maturity of an educational organisation. It can facilitate transparency and comparability between related initiatives throughout Europe and helps to address fragmentation and uneven development across the Member States.
To complement the framework, the European Commission designed the SELFIE for Schools tool, a free online self-assessment tool aimed to help schools make the most of digital technologies for teaching and learning.
DigCompEdu
The European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu) provides a general reference model to support the development of digital competences for educators in Europe.
To further support educators, the JRC developed SELFIEforTEACHERS, a self-reflection tool that helps teachers develop their digital competences by offering a set of 32 self-reflection items.
LifeComp
The European framework for the personal, social and learning to learn key competence (LifeComp) is a framework to establish a shared understanding on the “personal, social and learning to learn” key competence.
It aims to help people unleashing their dynamic potential, self-regulate their emotions, thoughts, and behaviours, to build a meaningful life, cope with complexity, and thrive as individuals.
GreenComp
the European sustainability competence framework (GreenComp) is a reference framework for sustainability competences, designed to support education and training programmes for lifelong learning. It responds to the growing need for people to learn how to work, act and live in a sustainable manner.
EntreComp
The entrepreneurship competence framework (EntreComp) describes entrepreneurship as a lifelong competence, identifies what are the elements that make someone entrepreneurial and describes them to establish a common reference for initiatives dealing with entrepreneurial learning.
By focusing on the development of competences through the actual creation of entrepreneurial value, EntreComp breaks down the boundaries between education, work and civic engagement.
Scaffold, a tool for educators
To make European competence frameworks simple and easy to use by teachers, the European Training Foundation (ETF) and the JRC have jointly developed Scaffold, a tool for Educators. It consist of a deck of 102 cards, supporting the design of learning activities and is based on DigComp, GreenComp, LifeComp and EntreComp.
