Biography

Raffael Speitmann is an economist in the Fiscal Policy Analysis Team at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. His work primarily involves conducting research and policy analysis in the field of international corporate taxation. He is currently focused on the development and application of corporate tax microsimulations, including cross-border taxes.

Before joining the JRC in April 2021, he worked as a research and teaching associate at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), where he obtained his PhD from the Doctoral Program in International Business Taxation. Prior to his academic career, he worked as an analyst in the financial sector in Vienna.

He holds an MSc in Business Administration from WU Vienna and a BSc in Economics from the University of Munich.

Raffael works at the intersection of accounting, public economics and international taxation with a particular focus on firm taxation, fiscal policies and applied econometrics.
