Determination of Afla B1, DON, Fum B1 toxins in two naturally contaminated corn samples.

Proficiency Test on the determination of Afla B1, DON and Fum B1 in corn

The European Union Reference Laboratory for Mycotoxins organises a proficiency test on the determination of Aflatoxin B1, Deoxynivalenol and Fumonisin B1 in corn.
The objective of this study is to evaluate the capabilities of European National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) and Official Food Control Laboratories (OCLs) in the determination of the target analytes in corn.

Only NRLs for Mycotoxins and OCLs as indicated by NRLs can participate in the study.

Participation is free of charge for NRLs for Mycotoxins.

The participation fee is EUR 270 (two hundred seventy) per registration for OCLs, which do not have NRL status.

Test material and analytes
The test material is naturally contaminated corn. Participants will receive two samples, each containing about 80 g of the material contaminated at two different levels.
The test material contains more than the 3 mentioned toxins and participants are welcome to report the detected levels of other toxins, should they have the possibility to do so.
The results will have to be reported corrected for recovery and have to be accompanied by the respective measurement uncertainty.
Further details will be communicated to participants at a later stage.

Performance assessment:
The performance of the participants in the determination of Afla B1, DON and Fum B1 in corn will be rated by z-scores and zeta-scores.
