Nanoparticles are known to possess anti-bacterial properties. The goal of this project is to gain fundamental information about the interaction between nanoparticles and biofilms: relationships between the characteristics of the nanoparticles (e.g. chemical composition and structure); and the transport, diffusion and antimicrobial effect of engineered nanoparticles within the biofilm.
