Deep-water Corals as Archives of Ocean Transport

In the world of the changing climate, deep knowledge of ocean circulation patterns and anomalies is crucial for understanding the potential impacts on the environment and human societies. Ocean masses tracer studies are based on the chemistry of water column. Skeletons of corals were proven to be excellent archives of ocean chemistry. Therefore, DeCArOT project aims to test the usability of a cosmopolitan species of deep (or cold) water coral in the Atlantic Ocean as an archive of dissolved radionuclides in NE Atlantic Ocean.
