Digital skills

The JRC analyses digital skills gaps and mismatches in the labour market and more generally among citizens, using quantitative and qualitative data, covering both general digital skills and ICT specialist skills, to support the skills element of the Digital Decade Policy Programme.  

The JRC supports digital competences and skills development in early childhood, primary, secondary, VET and higher education. Current projects include the implementation of tools, support for, and research on: 

• Digital competence development of schools
• Digital competence development in VET contexts for work-based learning
• Digital competence development of teachers

Several digital skills certification schemes exist in Europe, and many are aligned to the European Digital Competence Framework (DigComp). This study will identify the requirements and features of a proposed European Digital Skills Certificate (EDSC). 

This project explores emerging technologies that have implications for digital skills, and which might require policy action in the coming years.
