Human mortality from extreme heat and cold |

Summary of Key Findings
Heatwaves are expected to become more frequent and intense with climate change. Without climate mitigation and adaptation, the death-toll from extreme heat in the EU could be more than 30 times more than at present by the end of this century.
With 3°C global warming in 2100, 90,000 Europeans could die from extreme heat annually. With 1.5°C global warming this is reduced to 30,000 deaths annually.
