Maria Cesira Urzì Brancati

Biography

Maria Cesira joined the JRC in 2017 and has since worked in the Human Capital and Employment Unit (B4) in Seville. She has been involved in projects related to the labour market impact of digital technologies, with a focus on automation and digital labour platforms.

In addition, she has taken the lead on a new strand of research on digital surveillance in the workplace. Prior to the JRC, Maria Cesira has worked for the International Longevity Centre (ILC), a UK based think tank specialised in providing evidence to policy makers and charities on the impact on population ageing on society.

She also carried out research for the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, and the Centre for Research on Pension and Welfare Policies (CeRP-Collegio Carlo Alberto) in Italy. Maria Cesira holds a doctorate in Economics from the University of Tor Vergata, Rome.
