A hybrid training developed in 2021 with a combination of practical exercises in the laboratory and on-line transmission to trainees located at several remote sites.
EUSECTRA Remote Interactive eTraining (ERIeT)
The recent crisis has made nuclear security training courses with physical presence virtually impossible the value of on-line and remote trainings has come to light in such a tough situation, but there is a request from partners (EU MSs, EC DGs, international partners) to continue EUSECTRA trainings even during the crisis.
Reachback training for the BfS (DE)
EUSECTRA delivered a remote training course to the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (Bundesamt für Strahlenschutz, Germany) mid-March’21.
This training was the first of its kind at this time of the Covid19 crisis using a full range of modern technical communication tools.
ERIeT combines field/practical exercises at the EUSECTRA facility including the real live use of nuclear and radioactive material with on-line transmission to trainees located at several remote sites.
This hybrid approach of the remote real field exercises is a strong contribution to protect EU citizens against CBRN related threat and nuclear terrorism.
The EUSECTRA Remote Interactive eTraining is to be used as substitute for physical training courses (which will remain EUSECTRA core activities when the situation would stabilize) but does not aim to replace it. In the medium and long term, the EUSECTRA Remote Interactive eTraining will be complement to physical training or be used as refresher/intro material.
The aims are to remain as interactive as possible using all modern technical available tools and to focus on field/practical exercises with the use of extended instrument and facility portfolios of the EUSECTRA, and with the real live use of nuclear and radioactive material.
