Biography
Javier Barbero joined the JRC in 2016. He holds a Ph. D. in Economics from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. During his education, he was visiting researcher at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
Since 2018, Javier is leading a two-year competitive exploratory research project on Heterogeneous Firms General Equilibrium model (HETFIGE) granted by the JRC Exploratory Research Programm. Five researchers are participating in the research projet in Spain and Belgium.
His main research interests are spatial economics, eficiency and productivity measurement, and computational economics.
His current work in the REMO team focuses mainly on model development, impact assessment, and econometric estimations, among other tasks.
