The regional coordinators act as regional contacts for the IMEP programme. Their function is to be a link between the IMEP comparison coordinator (JRC-Geel) and the participants (laboratories) in a particular geographic region or within a particular sector of chemistry.
Regional coordinators are very valuable partners for IMEP. They are typically people or institutions directly involved in chemical measurements and preferably experienced and competent in metrological matters, with profound knowledge of the measurement systems of their country or region.
The tasks of the regional coordinators are to act on behalf of JRC-Geel to liase with participants and administer locally in each comparison, while bridging linguistic, cultural differences and taking into account any local particularities.
