Description
Organised as an Independent United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) Dialogue, together with the Asian Farmers' Association for Sustainable Rural Development, on the side-lines of the UNFSS Science Days this Brussels Dialogue will bring together the European and international academia and science actors, policymakers and practitioners, as well as famers' organisations and private sector.
In this neutral platform, participants will share expertise and exchange views on the importance of science for efficient policymaking and how it can improve some of the negative economic, environmental and social externalities of food while fostering a better understanding of the synergies and potential trade-offs within and between the different dimensions of food systems.
Experts will provide their perspectives on what governance mechanisms are needed at the global, regional and country level to ensure an efficient dialogue between science and policymaking and how it can help support farmers through better access to knowledge, science, innovations, technologies and capacity building.
Speakers from the JRC will include:
- Bernard Magenhann, Deputy Director-General
- Giovanni de Santi, Director for Sustainable Resources
See FAO Brussels Dialogue for more information and the full list of speakers.
