A fair, just, and inclusive energy transition is a complex but essential challenge as millions of Europeans struggle to pay their energy bills and keep their homes sufficiently warm or cool, and face existing barriers to transport.

During the EU week of Regions and Cities we draw together knowledge on recent policy and research developments concerning energy and transport poverty in Europe, in relation to the 2030 and 2050 climate objectives.

The following topics will be addressed during the event:

  • The new Energy Poverty Advisory Hub
  • Regional disparities in energy poverty: tackling the problem at source
  • Empowering vulnerable groups during the transition: the role of EU legislation and policy
  • Transport poverty and energy transition: the current state of play and the challenges ahead
