Reporting unusual events at nuclear installations is key to safe and reliable operations. The staff of nuclear regulators must therefore know how event reports should look like and what the post-event inspections should include.
To facilitate this, the JRC, together with the Enconet Consulting GmbH, is organizing a webinar showing participants how to perform an event cause analysis and what information to include in an event report. The webinar will also introduce how to conduct a post-event inspection analysis and what the regulatory inspectors should focus on.
The webinar is mainly addressed at European Clearinghouse members and open to a wider public with expertise or interest in the topic. All lectures will be conducted in English.
Participation is free of charge. Registrations are open from 15 August 2025 until 28 September 2025.

Description
Reporting unusual events at nuclear installations has been recognized an important factor of safe and reliable operation of the installations. Adequate Operating Experience Feedback (OEF) programme should be established as a basis for the event reporting. Following an unusual event, nuclear regulatory bodies should review an event report provided by the licensee and inspect the affected installation to verify actual conditions and actions taken. The staff of nuclear regulators must therefore know how such event reports should look like and what the post-event inspections should include
The webinar will show participants how an event cause analysis should be performed and what information should be included in an event report. The lectures will also present how the post-event inspection should be organised and what the regulatory inspectors should focus on.
In particular, the webinar will deliver presentations and discussions on:
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methods
- Evaluation of an RCA report based on an event case study
- Licensee corrective actions
- Event coding system
- Regulatory oversight including inspections of a licensee’s OEF programme
- Main components of post-event inspections
- Follow-up inspections by the regulator
The presentations will be complemented by participants’ activities and exercises.
Further details and a schedule are provided in the following agenda:
