Pop up Europa

De hele maand organiseert de gemeente Mol allerlei Europese activiteiten. In de bib kan je meer te weten komen over het Gemeenschappelijk Centrum voor Onderzoek of Joint Research Centre (JRC, vroeger bekend als EURATOM).

JRC is de dienst voor wetenschap en kennis van de Europese Commissie. JRC-Geel, is één van de zes wetenschappelijke sites van het Joint Research Centre (JRC). Het JRC zoekt antwoorden op maatschappelijke vragen en biedt beleidsmakers onafhankelijke, op feiten gebaseerde wetenschappelijke en technische ondersteuning voor het beleid van de EU.

In het JRC-Geel wordt al meer dan 60 jaar wetenschappelijk onderzoek gedaan. We zijn trots op onze multidisciplinaire expertise voor de ontwikkeling van nieuwe meetmethoden en -hulpmiddelen. We produceren referentiematerialen voor de promotie van standardisatie en harmonisatie in de Europese Unie. Zo stimuleren we innovatie te stimuleren en helpen consumenten en burgers te beschermen.

Bij JRC-Geel werken ongeveer 250 personeelsleden uit de hele Europese Unit. Er zijn specialisten in biotechnologie, voedselveiligheid, opsporing van voedselfraude, gezondheidszorg, nanotechnologie, nucleaire veiligheid en beveiliging en bedreigingsdetectie. Dit werk wordt gedaan in onze state-of-the-art laboratoria.

During the full month, the city of Mol will organise a lot of activities under the theme Europe. You will find informtion about us, the Joint Research Centre (JRC, known in the past as EURATOM) in the library of Mol. The JRC is the European Commission’s science and knowledge service.

JRC-Geel (Belgium) is one of the six scientific sites of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC). As the European Commission’s scientific service, the JRC addresses key societal challenges, providing EU policy makers with independent, evidence-based scientific and technical support required for EU policy making.

JRC-Geel has a proud history of more than 60 years of scientific research and brings together multi-disciplinary expertise for developing new measurement methods and tools such as reference materials, promoting standardisation and harmonisation across the European Union to stimulate innovation and to protect consumers and citizens.

JRC-Geel employs about 250 individuals who work on biotechnology, food and feed safety, food fraud detection, healthcare, nanotechnology, nuclear safety and security, and threat detection. These activities are conducted in state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities.
