The JRC is pleased to announce the 2 days online training course for Western Balkans scientists on evidence informed policy making, assessing science, understanding policymaking processes and gaining insight into the interaction between the different paradigms in which scientists, policymakers and politicians operate. It will help scientists to become reflexive practitioners, mastering the complex task of providing the appropriate knowledge and services with confidence, skill and respect for their scientific and institutional values.
Participating in this 2 days online training course you will learn to become more effective in informing policy through evidence and better capable to select and use effective methods and tools for informing policy. This course is essential for researchers who would like their research results to have greater policy impact, but may not have the know-how to communicate effectively with policy makers.
The official language of the training course will be English.

Description
Who can participate?
We are looking for scientists from Western Balkans region, i.e., Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia with a strong interest in evidence informed policy making. Applications by advanced students are also admitted, however, the priority will be given to researchers.
The maximum number of participants will be 15.

Applications should be submitted by 24 July 2023.
How are participants selected?
Participants will be selected based on the following criteria:
- Clarity of the motivation to attend this online training
- Relevance of the CV
- Proportional representation of scientists from all Western Balkans economies

Decisions on acceptance will be announced by email on 28 July 2023.

* This designation is without prejudice to positions on status and is in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo Declaration of Independence.
