Description
The INSPIRE Conference, Towards a Common European Green Deal data space for environment and sustainability’, will be held from 25-29th October 2021.
Each year, the European INSPIRE conference provides a forum for stakeholders from government, academia and industry to discuss the latest developments of the INSPIRE Directive. Through the 14 sessions of the 2021 Conference, panellists will cover data, the Green Deal, Citizen Science, location interoperability and the INSPIRE past, present and future.

Programme
The programme of the Conference is structured around three main tracks:
- The political roadmap: a look back on the past implementation of INSPIRE and dwell on the major findings of the evaluation of the INSPIRE Directive.
- Green data: the latest developments on new technologies and infrastructures for data
- The architectural roadmap: an overview of new technologies and their impact in changing traditional SDIs towards data spaces.

Background
After almost 15 years since the adoption of the INSPIRE Directive, we are entering a new milestone phase. The European Commission’s recent focus on the green and digital transformation holds the potential to turn the INSPIRE infrastructure into a key tool for the successful sharing of environmental data in Europe.
Green open data is an essential resource to meet the objectives of the Green Deal. Data can enable the development of environmentally friendly transport and energy systems, as well as greener and more sustainable cities. Bringing such data together in a EU common data space will fuel actionable insights and applications that increase the effectiveness of our policies, guide consumers and producers towards more sustainable choices and reduce the costs of the transition. Data driven innovation is a key building block to enable the European Green Deal. Paired with digital technologies, it lies the foundation for the intended sustainability transformations.
