European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference & Exhibition

The European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) coordinates the scientific programme of the  European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC). The conference remains the premier global event for showcasing the latest advances and innovation in solar energy research, technologies, and applications, at a time when the energy industry is rapidly growing and the widespread adoption of solar photovoltaic (PV) is reaching the multi-terawatt mark.  

For the 2026 edition, the JRC will make several important technical contributions covering aspects highly relevant to the rapid expansion of PV worldwide. Key focus areas include:

• Accurate measurements: developing methods for PV modules, including novel perovskite materials.
• PVGIS enhancement: expanding the capabilities of the Photovoltaic Geographical Information System (PVGIS) tool.
• EU PV potential: estimating solar potential in the EU's built environment.
• Sustainability: ensuring closing loop scenarios and circularity for the future PV ecosystem.

Additionally, the JRC supports the conference by providing the scientific programme coordination, including chairing a scientific committee of more than 400 international high-level scientists and industry experts, and chairing the International Scientific Advisory Committee.
