Launch event: Access and Cost of Education and Health Services

Health and education are essential pillars for all EU citizens. But the provision of services is under pressure in remote places. Therefore the place must be the core of our actions and policy solutions must be tailered to the characteristics of each place.

The launch event of the joint OECD-EC JRC report "Access and Cost of Education and Health Services: Preparing Regions for Demographic Change" will address the importance of understanding opportunities and obstacles in the provision of services across EU.

The novelty and wealth of this report is a product of combining outstanding policy knowledge at the OECD with frontier data and tools produced by the EC-JRC LUISA Territorial Modelling Platform.

Programme

The programme counts on the participation of Joint Research Centre Director General Stephen Quest and Deputy Director of Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions and Cities, OECD, Nadim Ahmad.

The following topics will be covered:

• Policies for service provision in the context of demographic change
• Presentation of the report and launch of the geographic data tool
• Policy panel on efficient and equitable service provision in rural regions
