EMAR - About

By adopting a topic-based approach to the authoring of the synthesis reports, with individual topics linked to the relevant projects, reports, materials, parameters, and components, the EMAR knowledge base facilitates intuitive navigation to information of immediate interest.

As well as providing access to synthesized research outputs on specific materials ageing mechanisms, the EMAR knowledge base is intended to be used for training and tutoring purposes.

Within the first materials ageing mechanisms selected for the knowledge base, Euratom research results from FP4 to FP7 projects on irradiation embrittlement, mechanical fatigue, thermal fatigue and intergranular stress corrosion cracking (IGSCC) have been taken into consideration.

The focus of the synthesis is based on results relevant for nuclear power plant (NPP) designs operated in Europe to relate the information of the ageing mechanisms first of all to generic NPP designs.

The EMAR knowledge base has been designed to guarantee flexibility and extendibility towards further ageing mechanisms, training and tutoring possibilities, specific structure, system and component (SSC) information for plants, and new NPP designs.
