New technologies and business models - the future of road transport

A perfect storm of new technologies and new business models is transforming our vehicles, how we get around, our way of life.

Smartphone apps put cabs, shared cars, bikes and scooters at our fingertips. We move to look at transport as a flexible service, not as a long term commitment to one transport option.

Shared electric bikes and scooters make public transport more accessible. They shrink the 'last mile' between public transport and our homes or workplaces.

With its 7 trillion Euros annual revenue stream, transport attracts disruptive technology companies. They are not interested in preserving the current model.

New technologies slash costs and spur demand. Full automation cuts out drivers. Electrification simplifies production and decreases running costs. The two combined can increase profits by making cars work 24/7 and share the road more efficiently.
