Biography
Andrea is a GIS developer with extensive experience in creating, analysing and managing geospatial data. His main role at the European Crisis Management Laboratory includes editing thematic situational maps on request of DG ECHO to support the ERCC (Emergency Response Coordination Centre) activities in the context of emerging and/or ongoing emergencies. He also carries out technical studies to support information processing activities and collaborates in the development of new functions of the ERCC portal.

Professional achievements
Before arriving to the Joint Research Centre, Andrea was working in photointerpretation and stereoscopy, remote sensing (aerial, satellite, hyperspectral and radar imagery), mapping and GIS for forestry maps and inventories, land use/cover, agricultural areas, environmental impact studies and ground data collection.
Between 2004 and 2010 he was extensively involved in field surveys and data analysis activities within the PDNA-PCNA (Post Disaster/Conflict Needs Assessment, a collaborative initiative of United Nations, World Bank and European Commission), in Asia, Africa, Central America and in South Caucasus.
Worth mentioning are his experiences as a tutor in GIS and remote sensing, and several publications and participation in various conferences.
Academic background
Andrea has a master’s degree in forestry science at the University of Padova, Italy (19 March 1986).
