Biography
Alejandro Buesa Olavarrieta is the Economist of the JRC – Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS) project “bounCE4ward”. The project analyses the circularity status quo and future potential in different EU value chains, to propose solutions (i.e., scenarios, policy options) to mitigate the risk of supply disruptions and reduce carbon emissions.
He holds a PhD in Economics from the Complutense University of Madrid, as well as an MRes from the European University Institute and a MSc in Macroeconometrics and Finance. His research interests relate to international macroeconomics, forecasting and scenario design, and financial stability. Prior to joining the JRC, he worked as a Senior Economist for Banco de España (DG International Economics), as a Research Analyst at the European Central Bank (DG Macroprudential Policy), and held several junior positions in CEPII, CEPREMAP and BBVA Research.
He is the author of various policy studies as well as scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals.
