Cooperation with EU countries

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is committed to supporting EU member countries in addressing societal challenges and bringing scientific evidence to the heart of policymaking.

We aim to better understand policy priorities in member countries, allowing us to improve our support to EU policymaking.

We work with EU national governments and leading research organisations to

  • foster scientific excellence, complementing national scientific research and promoting the uptake of scientific evidence for more robust policymaking
  • strengthen administrative capacity by supporting administrative reforms and building capacity for science-based policymaking

Collaboration in action

Our collaborations with EU member states involve

  • joint research projects to address common challenges
  • knowledge dissemination through workshops, conferences and policy papers
  • promoting mobility and training of scientists to foster collaboration and exchange

The JRC uses a multi-level network to manage relationships with EU member states and beyond. This includes the Board of Governors and the National Contact Point Network at corporate level, along with many scientific collaboration networks.

Intensifying our collaboration

In recent years, we have intensified our networking activities in EU member states, with high-level visits to countries like Spain, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Poland and the Netherlands since 2023 and more planned for the coming months.
