Biography
Abián García Rodríguez joined the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) in March 2022. He holds a BSc in Economics from the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, an MSc in Economics from the Universitat de Barcelona, and a PhD in Economics from the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.
Prior to joining the JRC, he was an Economist for the Department of Finance of the Canary Islands' Government and the Confederación Canaria de Empresarios CEOE (Las Palmas), following the completion of his BSc. Between 2015 and 2022 he worked for the Economic and Social Research Institute (Dublin), first as a Postdoctoral Researcher and then as a Research Officer.
His main research interests include Fiscal Policy, Regional Economics, Demographics and Applied Macroeconomics, and he also has publications on International Trade and Electoral Participation.
His current work in the TEDAM team focuses on contributing to the development of the spatial dynamic computable general equilibrium (CGE) RHOMOLO model, to update the model’s database, and to carry out simulations of EU policies and structural reforms.
